Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Arlington, VA is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer for the S3 Request Processing team. You will build scalable services, work on distributed micro-services, and deliver high-performance systems that handle trillions of transactions monthly.

You will mentor junior engineers, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the security and reliability of our cloud storage platform.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

  • S3 Request Processing organization is tasked with building the next generation of services to process customer request metadata, providing logging and eventing solutions to S3 customers.
  • You will contribute to key development projects integrating with S3 APIs processing hundreds of trillions of transactions per month.
  • You will build and enhance new services using distributed micro-services architectures and expert knowledge, pattern recognition, and machine learning techniques to efficiently analyze requests at the massive scale of S3.
  • Senior Engineers on this team must mentor and lead their junior teammates.

Key job responsibilities

S3 Request Processing organization is tasked with building the next generation of services to process customer request metadata, providing logging and eventing solutions to S3 customers. As a Senior Software Development Engineer for the S3 Request Processing organization you will contribute to key development projects integrating with S3 API's processing 100's of trillions of transactions per month. You will build and enhance new services using distributed micro-services architectures and expert knowledge, pattern recognition, and machine learning techniques to efficiently analyze requests at the massive scale of S3.

Senior Engineers on this team must have a deep knowledge of computer science, a solid foundation in secure engineering practices, and a genuine desire to mentor and lead their more junior teammates.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
