Job summary

Amazon in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to contribute to the Kinesis Data Streams platform. You will refine requirements, define architecture, and lead the implementation and launch of software in a fast-growing cloud environment.

Responsibilities include collaborating with product managers, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and ensuring scalable, reliable services. The team values ownership, technical excellence, and customer obsession in AWS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Responsibilities

• Solve difficult problems using appropriate technologies and best practices.
• Invent, design and build software that is stable and performant with your team.
• Be proficient in a broad range of design approaches and know when to use them.
• Write clear, maintainable code understandable by engineers unfamiliar with the system.
• Minimize short-term workarounds and avoid excessive complexity.
• Create flexible software without over-engineering and judiciously manage dependencies.
• Be efficient with resources (hardware, database, memory/CPU).
• Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and peers on project ideas.
