Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Network Engineer specializing in Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki, and Viptela to design and modernize secure, scalable enterprise networks across distributed environments. You will work with security, cloud, and delivery teams to ensure resilient connectivity and optimized performance.

You will mentor teams, develop architecture documentation, and lead capacity planning to support hybrid work and global operations with minimal disruption.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with enterprise routing and switching (Cisco), including high-availability design and segmentation.
• 10+ years of experience designing, implementing, or optimizing SD-WAN in complex enterprise environments.
• 5–10 years of experience with Cisco Meraki SD-WAN architecture, policy design, and branch connectivity.
• 5+ years of experience with Juniper technologies in enterprise networks.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN and Viptela control, data, and management planes.
• Deep understanding of network security fundamentals and secure tunneling.
• Experience supporting hybrid work, branch connectivity, remote and cloud access.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex network issues.
• Excellent communication to present designs and document decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable SD-WAN solutions using Cisco Meraki to provide secure connectivity across locations.
• Architect Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN and Viptela solutions for application-aware routing and multi-link use.
• Define end-to-end network architectures integrating SD-WAN, switching, routing, and security.
• Design and optimize campus, branch, and data center routing and switching for availability and performance.
• Review topologies to improve availability, reduce incidents, and optimize WAN/SD-WAN usage.
• Create network design docs, diagrams, standards, migration plans, and implementation guides.
• Collaborate with security, cloud, app, and operations teams to align with policies and cloud connectivity.
• Provide guidance during complex incidents related to SD-WAN and network performance.
• Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to anticipate growth and upgrades.
• Mentor teams on SD-WAN design, config, troubleshooting, and standards.
