Essential Functions
  • Facilitates the team’s progress toward team goals. Acts as facilitator for multiple teams or the Release Train Engineer (RTE) for a SAFe Agile release train (ART). Continuously challenge old ways of working to improve team level or ART level performance in quality, predictability, flow, velocity and other enterprise-defined metrics. Helps the team improve and take responsibility for their actions; facilitates the team retrospective. Teaches problem-solving techniques and helps the team become better problem-solvers. Organizes and facilitates all Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-Ups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives. Ensures productivity, efficiency and focus on delivering value.
  • Supports the team’s efforts to continuously improve communications and relationships with other teams. Leads coordination with other teams to improve flow and throughput. Represents the team in the Scrum of Scrums (SoS), or runs the Scrum of Scrums, and/or other program level ceremonies to plan, execute, and improve work and operating models. Helps teams engage with larger program objectives and build effective relationships with supporting teams like User Experience, Architecture, Shared Services, etc. Supports Product Owner and Product Management in backlog management and guiding the team while maintaining healthy priorities and scope.
  • Eliminates impediments by engaging the right stakeholders. Supports the team/ART in addressing and removing issues to improve likelihood of achieving Iteration or PI objectives. Assists with internal and external communication and improves transparency.
  • Exhibits Lean-Agile Leader behaviors to nurture a Lean-Agile Mindset in the team, leadership, and program. Provides input and leads initiatives to improve business agility and drives culture change to improve agility within teams and ARTs.
Supervisory Responsibility Leans a team utilizing a matrix management system.Qualifications

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Licenses/Certifications

  • SAFe Scrum Master Certification Upon Hire Preferred
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSP) Upon Hire Required
  • Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer Preferred
  • Certified Scrum Professional Preferred

Experience: 8 years or equivalent in the use of Lean, Agile methodologies including three plus years as Scrum Master or Kanban lead. Proven success leading multiple Agile teams to agile maturity and improved customer outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile Release Train.
  • Leading Change and continuous improvement, working with cross-functional teams using lean agile methods.
  • Experience doing value stream mapping, system-level optimizations, applying Theory of Constraints and other Lean techniques.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of Lean Agile values, principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Lean Agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.
  • Knowledge of Scaling frameworks like SAFe.
  • Accountability for program success; strong communication skills (written and oral).
  • Knowledge of Product Ownership, DevOps, Test Automation practices, etc.
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to organize data and create metrics/reports/dashboards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-standard Agile tools.
  • Ability to drive change, manage conflicts constructively.
  • Must meet deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers with a focus on service excellence.
Salary Range: $104,976 - $208,494

Salary Range Disclaimer The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differential. This compensation range considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, internal equity, market considerations. It is not typical to hire at the top of the range. In addition to compensation, CareFirst offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive programs/plans, and 401k contributions (subject to eligibility).
