Spear Bio Inc. is seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist in Assay Development - Neuroscience Biomarkers for its Woburn, MA lab.

The role focuses on translating neuro biomarker science into robust ultrasensitive immunoassays for research and potential clinical applications. The candidate will optimize assay strategies, evaluate molecular forms and epitopes, analyze preanalytical variables, and troubleshoot complex development challenges in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong expertise in fluid biomarkers and assay development for neurodegenerative diseases.
• Understanding of biomarker heterogeneity in human biofluids.
• Hands-on experience developing immunoassays or quantitative protein-detection methods.
• Ability to design experiments independently and troubleshoot challenges.
• Publications, patents, or translational research contributions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a startup or fast-paced biotech environment with rising ownership.

Responsibilities

• Develop a portfolio of ultrasensitive immunoassays across the product lifecycle.
• Plan, design, and execute hands-on assay-development studies.
• Provide scientific leadership by optimizing for clinically relevant molecular forms and epitopes.
• Analyze clinical and preclinical data and relate findings to disease biology.
• Collaborate with Platform, Product Development, Operations, and Business Development teams.
• Prepare clear scientific presentations, reports, abstracts, and publications.
• Contribute to a rigorous, collaborative startup environment.
