(HJF) seeks a Sr Scientist to serve as the Principal Investigator and lead independent, externally funded research programs in surgery, trauma, and related disciplines within the USU/WRNNMC Department of Surgery. The role requires conceiving and designing complex projects, securing federal funding, mentoring staff, and advancing translational research in a military medicine setting.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree required with at least 10 years of progressive research experience.
• Strong track record of securing funding from federal agencies and foundations.
• Proven ability to lead independent research programs and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsabilités

• Establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program as PI/Co-PI in surgery, trauma, or related disciplines.
• Conceive, develop, and execute innovative basic, translational, and applied research projects.
• Identify and secure funding opportunities to expand the HJF research portfolio.
• Provide scientific leadership and mentorship to investigators and staff.
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national/international meetings.
