Job Description

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with scientists within the Pathobiology function, internal research & biomarker teams and external partners to identify and validate novel drug targets and elucidate mechanisms of action. A strong background in biology or a related field, along with hands-on experience in developing and optimizing IHC, ISH, IF, and tissue based multiplex assays, is essential. Familiarity with emerging tissue-based technologies and analytical tools is highly desirable. Experience working with CROs to outsource assays is also desirable.

We are looking for a self-driven team player with excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic research environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with investigators across Gilead to understand project goals and implement tissue-based assays.

  • Design and execute experiments using various tissue based technologies (for instance RNA-protein multiplexing, IHC/IF, mIF) and platforms (e.g., Ultivue, Akoya, Canopy) and advanced imaging systems (e.g., Zeiss Axioscan Z1, Akoya Polaris).

  • Lead the evaluation and integration of emerging tissue technologies through internal efforts and collaborations with CROs.

  • Manage outsourced studies with external vendors and CROs as needed.

Qualifications & Skills
  • PhD in a relevant field with 2+ years of experience.

  • Proven expertise in multiplex IF assay development and a strong interest in solving complex scientific problems.

  • Experience with automated stainer platforms and high-resolution imaging systems.

  • This position will work closely with scientists, data scientists and project leads and success in this role requires strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with emerging tissue-based technologies is a plus.

  • Experience working with CROs to outsource assays is desirable.

  • Familiarity with quantification-based metrics and tools for analysis and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Spotfire, Prism) is preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $169,320.00 - $219,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
