Corning seeks a senior specialist to drive innovation in optical, photonic, and opto-mechanical technologies. You will design, develop, and validate advanced components and systems, guiding early-stage invention from prototype to demonstration across telecom, AI computing and data-center markets.

The role requires Ph.D. or MS with substantial industrial experience, hands-on optical systems know-how, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a high-performance team

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Optical Engineering, or related discipline; or M.S. with 3+ years industrial experience.
• Hands-on experience with optical systems, imaging hardware, and optical test/measurement systems.
• Strong ownership and ability to deliver with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; independent troubleshooting.
• Data analysis, technical writing and presentation skills; proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop next-generation optical technologies for telecom, data centers, solar, and displays.
• Define technical requirements, performance metrics, and validation protocols for optical solutions.
• Apply analytical methods to develop understanding and solve complex challenges; perform root-cause analysis.
• Lead or contribute to technical projects and provide guidance to scientists and engineers.
• Document work and communicate findings through presentations and IP contributions.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices; travel occasionally for collaboration.
