Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Scientist Technical Support in Des Plaines, IL to drive the development, validation, and lifecycle management of oligonucleotide manufacturing processes for molecular diagnostics.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and R&D to resolve complex technical challenges, lead investigations, and improve process robustness in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering or related field with 0–4 years in industry.
• M.S. in related field with 5+ years in industry.
• B.S. in related field with 8+ years in industry.
• Experience in process development, analytical development, or manufacturing sciences within regulated environment.
• Strong experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience authoring technical reports and change controls.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across functions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for oligonucleotide manufacturing and QC processes.
• Develop, validate manufacturing and analytical methods for molecular diagnostics.
• Design and execute experiments; analyze data for process improvements.
• Lead cross-functional projects involving process changes and lifecycle management.
• Investigate product performance issues using data-driven approaches.
• Author technical reports, validation protocols, and regulatory documentation.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and R&D to ensure compliance.
• Support technology transfer, process characterization, and scale-up.
• Stay current on oligonucleotide technologies and continuous improvement.
