Job summary

Braun Intertec is seeking a Senior Scientist in Bloomington, MN to lead environmental investigation and remediation projects, including brownfield redevelopment, from concept through construction.

You will mentor teams, manage scope, budget, and schedule while building client relationships and ensuring regulatory compliance. A BS in a related field with licensure or eligibility and 10–20+ years of experience are expected, with travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Professional licensure (PG, PE, CHMM) or eligibility within 12 months.
• 10+ to 20+ years of environmental project management experience.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations; Minnesota experience preferred.
• Leadership and mentoring experience.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage brownfield redevelopment projects from concept to construction completion.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding needs and developing practical solutions.
• Oversee scope, budget, schedule, risk, and profitability of projects.
• Mentor staff and develop future technical and project leaders.
• Provide technical leadership on Phase I/II ESAs, soil and groundwater investigations, and remediation planning.
• Travel up to ~20% locally and regionally.

What You’ll Do as a Senior Scientist, Braun Intertec prides ourselves on being our client’s experts for Brownfield redevelopment. At Braun Intertec, you will join our expert team of professionals and you’ll lead and manage a variety of brownfield redevelopment projects from concept through construction completion, ensuring they’re delivered on time, on budget, and beyond expectations. You will:· Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, to understand their needs and develop practical, effective solutions· Lead and inspire multidisciplinary project teams, driving accountability, quality, and momentum· Own project performance—managing scope, budget, schedule, risk, and profitability· Build and strengthen long-term client relationships and strategic partnerships· Mentor staff and contribute to developing the next generation of technical and project leaders· Provide technical leadership on advanced environmental work, including:· Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments· Soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigations· Response action plans supporting remediation and redevelopment· Brownfield redevelopment· Knowledge and experience with state and federal regulations· Experience with local and national clean up grants· Oversight of remedial activities and compliance monitoring· Scope development, cost estimating, and proposal preparation· Data analysis and report writing· Travel locally and regionally as needed (up to ~20%) What Sets You ApartYou’ll excel in this role if you bring the following competencies and abilities:· A BS degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field· Licensure/certification as a Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer, CHMM or related, and/or ability to be registered/certified within 12 months.Demonstrated knowledge of brownfield redevelopment, including assessment, risk management, regulatory engagement, grant writing/management and support of redevelopment goals· Significant, in-depth hands-on environmental and project management experience is required, typically gained through 10–20+ years of progressively responsible work aligned with the position’s duties· Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations, Minnesota specific desired· Proven leadership and mentoring experience· A genuine interest in growing existing client relationships and business development· Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills· A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Build More Than Projects—Build OwnershipAt Braun Intertec, your contributions matter.
