The candidate will collaborate with analytical and cross-functional teams to build an understanding of process impurities and degradation pathways for small molecule APIs.

The successful candidate will be expected to act as a lead scientist in their area of expertise, critically evaluate relevant scientific and regulatory advances, and integrate this knowledge into research and development programs. Candidate should possess an understanding of their core discipline and use that expertise to support early phase development of drug substance and drug product and collaborate across the global Analytical R&D organization and with cross-functional partners such as Pre-Clinical Safety (PCS), Process Chemistry, Process Engineering, Drug Product Development (DPD), Quality Assurance (QA), and CMC-Regulatory.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize cutting-edge mass spectrometry techniques, including high-resolution MS, MS/MS, ion mobility-MS, and 2DLC-MS, to characterize small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, starting materials, and impurities.
  • Identify, develop, and implement novel analytical methods for the characterization of pharmaceuticals with an emphasis on LC-MS and analytical characterization to drive discovery projects through the research and development pipeline.
  • Be responsible for leading the structure elucidation aspects of a project while collaborating with cross-functional project teams to advance programs through the development pipeline.
  • Support new product development with advanced method development and validations, technical transfer packages, and of technical data in support regulatory requirements.
