Elementis Global is seeking a Senior Scientist for Hectorite Materials in New Jersey. You will lead development of next-generation Hectorite products, applying organic/inorganic chemistry and materials science to drive innovation and commercial outcomes.

The role balances laboratory work with project leadership across R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and business development, shaping the product pipeline and technology investments.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent with advanced knowledge in chemistry/materials science.
  • Proven track record in Hectorite or clay-based materials and related additives.
  • Experience in translating laboratory findings to commercial products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead R&D programs for Hectorite materials and related clay technologies.
  • Identify emerging technologies, markets, and customer needs to guide research priorities.
  • Collaborate with marketing, business development, and manufacturing to align technology with business goals.
  • Develop structure–property–performance relationships to improve product differentiation.
  • Manage multiple projects with clear milestones, risks, and timelines.
  • Protect IP through inventions, publications, and filings.
