Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Senior Scientist to provide scientific and technical leadership in the design, management, and execution of a clinical research program focused on GVHD after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. The role contributes to basic biology elucidation and the development of laboratory strategies predicting long-term outcomes.

The position involves supervising graduate/medical students and trainees, coordinating seminars, and developing new research proposals

Qualifications

• Ph.D in sciences or related field
• Minimum five years of experience with scientific investigation.
• Must have demonstrated outstanding achievement in a field of research
• Must have contributed to peer‑reviewed publications, inventions or the like, with major impact on advancing the field or discipline.
• Prior experience successfully securing external grant funding is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Designs and conducts complex clinical research studies requiring the determination and evaluation of alternative methods, diagnosis and treatment.
• Dissects euthanized mice for organoids; establishes and passages organoids from murine tissue.
• Analyzes organoids in single-cell suspensions and uses flow cytometry for epithelial and immune cell populations.
• Analyzes laboratory data including Western Blots; uses ImageJ for data quantification and GraphPad Prism for visualization and statistics.
• Explores subject area and defines scope and problems for investigation; develops hypotheses and evaluation methodologies.
• Communicates research results to the scientific community via publications; coordinates seminars and discussions.
• Develops new proposals for research and obtains support for activities.
• Makes decisions with major impact on scientific research activities; supervises graduate/medical students and trainees.
