Job summary

Elanco is seeking a Senior Scientist, Downstream Process Development to lead purification process development for biologics from bench-scale to commercial manufacturing. The role emphasizes robust process improvement, QbD, and cross-functional collaboration across R&D, MS&T, and manufacturing teams.

The candidate will design bench- and pilot-scale studies, support tech transfer, and contribute to regulatory submissions. Travel is <10%, based in Indianapolis, IN. A strong background in chromatography, filtration, and scale-up is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• 10+ years of related pharmaceutical experience.
• Hands-on downstream biologics process development experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead downstream process development programs for biologics, optimizing purification steps.
• Design and execute bench- and pilot-scale studies, plus scale-up and tech transfer support.
• Provide regulatory support, prepare technical reports and CMC documentation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, MS&T, Manufacturing, Quality, and external CDMOs.
