Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in San Diego is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the discovery chemistry team.

The role focuses on peptide synthesis and analysis to support the development of siRNA-based therapeutics, leveraging peptide chemistry expertise to optimize SAR and delivery strategies. The position is onsite five days a week in San Diego, with collaboration across cross-functional teams and exposure to state-of-the-art RNAi technologies.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree with chemistry-related background and relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience operating automated peptide synthesizers.
• Experience in design, synthesis, and characterization of macrocyclic and/or bicyclic peptides with noncanonical amino acids.
• Proficiency with analytical techniques, especially HPLC and LCMS.
• Strong problem-solving with ability to design and troubleshoot experimentally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-functional data presentation.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, execute, and troubleshoot SPPS workflows using both automated and manual techniques.
• Purify and analyze peptides using chromatography and mass spectrometry.
• Analyze and integrate chemical, biological, and pharmacokinetic data to establish SAR and guide compound design.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance delivery platform development.
