Job summary

Novo Nordisk A/S in Waltham, MA, seeks a Principal Scientist to lead discovery efforts in diabetes and to guide a global team in identifying therapeutic targets and maturing projects toward first-in-human studies. Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 8+ years
• Deep understanding of Diabetes pathophysiology and in vitro systems
• Experience in small molecule drug development paths
• Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and drug discovery processes
• Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific data internally, externally, and in regulatory submissions
• Understanding and experience with systems biology, bioinformatics, scRNAseq/snRNAseq and RNAseq analyses
• Experience in developing and improving in vitro models for non-clinical studies
• Track record of identifying and exploring new therapeutic targets
• Mentorship experience in the field is preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct and summarize non-clinical in vitro studies
• Lead strategies and operations for in vitro studies
• Support progression of pipeline projects as project manager and coordinator
• Ensure adherence to protocols and regulatory requirements
• Analyse data from in vitro studies to provide insights
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful experiments and data quality
• Develop and improve in vitro models supporting non-clinical studies
• Identify and evaluate new therapeutic targets in vitro
• Contribute to design/validation of new in vitro models for target validation
• Stay updated on latest in vitro model advances and propose innovative approaches
• Communicate data internally, externally, and in regulatory submissions
• Prepare clear reports for stakeholders and collaborators
• Present in vitro data to cross-functional teams and management
• Ensure timely communication of data to support decision-making
