Merck in South San Francisco is seeking an experienced scientist to join the Profiling & Expression team. You will design and execute deep profiling of primary human tissue using flow cytometry, develop biomarker assays, and discuss results with stakeholders across R&D to support translational programs.
The role emphasizes strong cytometry and immunology skills, cell culture, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment with opportunities for growth.
The Profiling & Expression department within Translational Medicine helps bridge Discovery and Development programs in multiple therapeutic areas through expertise in multimodal molecular analysis of tissues and model systems. We are a platform-based functional group leveraging a close partnership of pathologists, gene expression scientists, image analysis specialists, assay developers, and data scientists to contribute to target validation, generation of quality mechanistic data, and the discovery and development of response and pharmacodynamic biomarkers with line of sight to the clinic. The Cytometric Profiling group within the Profiling & Expression department leverages high dimensional flow cytometry for target expression analysis, target engagement assay development, and pharmacodynamic biomarker discovery predominantly using primary human tissues. The successful candidate will focus on the Immunology therapy area by profiling therapeutic targets of interest in primary human healthy and disease tissue using high-dimensional flow cytometry. Indications relevant to this work include autoimmune, inflammatory, atopic, and fibrotic diseases.
