Job summary

ARA’s IntraRisk Group in Raleigh, NC seeks a senior scientist to develop and implement engineering computer models for high wind hazards, structural response, and loss estimation. The ideal candidate has hurricane, flood, or tornado modeling background and will engage with insurers to apply HurLoss.

Responsibilities include leading projects, guiding clients, publishing technical reports, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in catastrophe and property insurance risk modeling.
• Experience developing computer codes (FORTRAN, C, C++, Python) for natural hazard risk assessment.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to work with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engineering models for high wind hazards and loss estimation.
• Process and interpret exposure data for HurLoss input.
• Lead multiple projects and engage with clients to meet modeling needs.
• Document work and produce technical reports.
