Job summary

Actalent in Piscataway, NJ seeks a Senior Scientist, Analytical R&D to lead hands-on analytical testing and method development for APIs and dosage forms in a fast-paced generic pharmaceutical setting.

The role emphasizes strict documentation, instrument proficiency (HPLC/UPLC, GC, UV-Vis, IR, MS), and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive development strategies and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field preferred; Ph.D. advantageous.
• Typically 8+ years pharma testing with Bachelors, 6+ with Masters, or up to 1 year with PhD.
• Strong hands‑on analytical lab experience in a cGMP setting.
• Experience with SOPs and regulatory documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate analytical methods for APIs, excipients and dosage forms.
• Optimize methods for qualification and release testing.
• Perform testing using HPLC/UPLC, GC, UV-Vis, IR, TLC, MS and related techniques.
• Document data, calculations, chromatograms, and results per cGMP.
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment; ensure data integrity.
• Lead projects and mentor analysts; support cross-functional teams.
