Job summary

Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead evaluation-focused initiatives and to drive technical leadership across a portfolio of large research and evaluation projects.

You will oversee proposal development, manage budgets, and mentor teams while advancing new business opportunities in health services and policy. Hybrid work is offered with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. required with strong background in evaluation/health services.
  • Five+ years leading and writing evaluation-focused technical proposals.
  • Experience winning and managing government contracts, grants, or cooperative agreements.
  • Expertise in evaluation projects in substance use, rural health, or criminal justice.

(AHP) is a consulting company that provides technical assistance and evaluation to improve health and human services systems so that everyone, particularly populations experiencing the greatest disadvantages, receive better care and have better health outcomes. Responsibilities
  • Lead and write technical proposals
  • Provide scientific and management leadership for a portfolio of large, complex projects.
  • Conceptualize, design and implement large research and evaluation projects.
  • Build, mentor, and lead cohesive, multidisciplinary, and client-focused teams, applying best practices in project management and methods with an emphasis on quality and fiscal responsibility.
  • Develop and lead new business opportunities in area of expertise.
  • Lead project meetings and other activities, assign responsibilities, supervise staff, resolve problems, and track budgets and timelines.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, literature reviews and other work products.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
Qualifications
Education
  • Ph.D.
Experience
  • Five or more years demonstrated experience leading and writing evaluation-focused technical contract proposals is required.
  • Expertise in winning, designing, and leading research or evaluation projects in one of the following areas:
    • Substance use prevention, treatment and policy
    • Rural health
    • Criminal justice and corrections
  • Evidence of ability to win, manage, and monitor government contracts, grants, and/or cooperative agreements is required.
  • Prior experience working on SAMHSA, CMS, HRSA, CDC, NIJ or other federal agency projects is highly valued.
  • Prior experience collecting and analyzing SAMHSA data tools including SUPRT, NOMS and IPP.
  • Experience with quantitative analysis software (Stata strongly preferred), data collection tools (e.g., REDCap), qualitative analysis software (e.g., Dedoose) MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and citation management software.
Work environment

Interacting with multiple stakeholders. Work is broad in scope covering one or more complicated areas. A high degree of design and analytic ability and creative thinking is required to devise new, non-standard approaches to highly intricate, technically complex problems. Hybrid working modality and flexible working hours.

Salary Range:$105,000 - $120,000

AHP, in an effort to be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, publishes the following information, which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors, including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.

Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. Location

All work must be performed within the United States or its territories. Employees are required to reside in, and carry out their job responsibilities from, a location within the U.S. or a U.S. territory for the duration of their employment. Limited exceptions may be granted for short-term personal or business travel outside of these areas, subject to prior written approval and in compliance with company policy.

This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while operating a computer and other standard office equipment.
