Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Conduct environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys to sample, evaluate, and analyze terrestrial ecosystems including riverine, wetland, and upland habitats. Identify, evaluate, and recommend risk, remediation, and liability management strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare permit applications, risk assessments, technical documents, proposals, reports, and regulatory correspondence. Develop environmental protection plans. Projects may include ecological and natural resource surveys, construction monitoring, stormwater management inspections, threatened/endangered species studies, and site planning and permitting.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report safety issues or concerns to management.
  2. Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  3. Gather data and information independently and for team evaluation as a project scientific professional.
  4. Conduct field studies related to botanical surveys, wetland delineation, stream assessments, and wildlife studies.
  5. Perform testing and sampling of environmental systems including terrestrial uplands, wetlands, streams, lakes, soils, etc.
  6. Provide environmental compliance monitoring, inspection, oversight, and reporting.
  7. Tabulate and prepare data for reports.
  8. Assist in report preparation by summarizing data and information.
  9. Operate field monitoring equipment.
  10. Maintain, calibrate, and inspect field equipment responsibly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field with a minimum of 9 years' related experience, or in lieu, 13 years' related experience.
  • Master's degree or PhD preferred.
  • Certification in relevant field.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS).
  • Qualified T&E Species Surveyor.
