Reading School District in Reading, PA is seeking a Lead Safe Schools Officer to work on-site at district facilities. You will collaborate with district administrators, school police and first responders to maintain a safe, secure environment and to support investigations, emergency responses and related activities.

The role requires a high school diploma with at least three years in law enforcement or security, preferred management experience, and relevant certifications.

• High School Diploma or GED required; a minimum of three years in the law enforcement or security field, including within a school entity; experience in management preferred; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Certified in First Aid, CPR, Tactical Handcuffing/Mechanical restraints and District authorized passive restraint training (or able to complete upon hire)
• Completed or able to complete Basic School Resource Officer Course (NASRO) or approved equivalent course
• Excellent analytical skills, a keen attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work with students, administrators, and co-workers.
• Strong verbal and written skills with ability to compose reports in English.
• Proven initiative and ability to follow up on assignments/orders.
• PA Driver's License and personal transportation required.

Responsabilidades

• Function as an on-site Lead Security Officer and report to the Director of Safe Schools for performance issues.
• Collaborate with School Police Officers and Supervisors in safe school initiatives.
• Work with local/state police and first responders.
• Provide annual training to the security force as assigned.
• Patrol buildings and grounds; maintain high visibility during student arrival and class transitions.
• Enforce School Board policies and maintain confidentiality under FERPA.
• Assist in stopping disruptive or illegal behavior and monitor for contraband.
• Prepare incident reports and disciplinary referrals; testify in court or hearings as needed.
• Participate in fire drills, bomb threats and other emergencies.
• Ensure safety of students, staff, and district property; assist with crowd control and traffic during events.
• Enforce school code laws and district rules.
• Coordinate with administrators at parent/guardian meetings and Board meetings as required.
• Assist principal with safety matters; avoid normal classroom management duties.
• Monitor student arrival/departures and events; report unsafe conditions.
• Notify principal of any hazards or suspicious activity.
• Assist investigations into student or staff injuries or property incidents.
• Wear official uniform as assigned.
• Perform any other duties; overtime as required.
