Job summary

Chesterfield County, Virginia is seeking a high-skilled senior school bus technician to diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic components on heavy-duty school buses. You will perform state safety inspections, 45-day checks, and road service calls, documenting repairs and maintenance in the system.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3–5 years journeyman experience or an associate degree with 3 years hands-on automotive work; ASE certifications

Qualifications

• Must have 3–5 years of journeyman experience in maintenance, repair, and computerized diagnosis of medium-heavy truck faults.
• Or an associate degree in automotive technology with 3 years of hands-on automotive experience.
• Substitution: accredited automotive trade school or apprenticeship for 2 years of experience.
• Current ASE certifications are preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, electronics, and vehicle systems.
• Ability to read manuals and use diagnostic aids.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair school buses, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Perform state safety inspections and 45-day inspections.
• Plan work procedures and document repairs.
• Operate high-tech diagnostic equipment and maintain records.
