Qualifications

Job Description

Vertex is seeking a Senior Scheduler with extensive CPM scheduling experience and a strong understanding of construction means and methods to join our team. This is an interesting and rewarding position working with senior staff, project stakeholders, owners, contractors, and consultants to develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, monitor project performance, identify schedule risks, and report progress and potential issues to clients. Additional responsibilities may include schedule delay analysis, construction claims support, forensic schedule evaluation, and assistance with preparation of expert reports and graphics.

Core Responsibilities
Work Product Creation, Project Management, Coordination with Team Members
  • Work closely with the Client Project Team to develop, maintain, and manage multiple project schedules; to include periodic tracking and status updates.
  • Develop, update, and analyze CPM schedules for high-rise, core & shell, commercial, mixed-use, and large-scale construction projects.
  • Review project documents including drawings, specifications, contracts, phasing plans, construction schedules, and project controls documentation.
  • Assist in the creation of comprehensive schedules utilizing Critical Path Methodology (CPM), resource loading, and cost loading as necessary.
  • Review critical path activities, schedule content, relationships, lag, constraints, milestones, float consumption, and project sequencing.
  • Identify schedule risks, delays, productivity impacts, and recovery opportunities, and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate schedule update meetings and collaborate with owners, contractors, construction managers, design teams, and project leadership.
  • Prepare schedule narratives, executive summaries, graphical reports, and project controls deliverables for client review.
  • Construction claims analysis including as-built schedule preparation, schedule analysis, document review and organization, key issue analysis, graphic exhibits, and input to expert reports.
  • Responsible for supporting assigned manager in meeting or exceeding the defined annual budget for the entire practice area (including proactive creation of work product to meet or exceed defined utilization targets, oversight of execution of profitable technical assignments, and communication with clients as assigned or requested).
  • Effectively coordinate with other team members as requested or assigned, provide technical work product review as appropriate, monitor progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced by self is consistently high quality.
  • Support assigned manager in monitoring all relevant data related to individual performance such as utilization rate versus target, client deadlines, project budgets, and accurate and timely timesheet reporting.
  • Meet or exceed defined individual average utilization goals as set forth by company leadership.
  • Conduct own behavior in a "lead by example" manner, with emphasis on professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and positivity.
  • Manage own tasks within assigned projects in support of meeting defined objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • Travel, as necessary, to support project, client, employee, and leadership needs, including construction site visits and project meetings.
  • Perform quality control of all assigned service delivery and self-generated work product, maintaining an excellent reputation for quality.
  • Provide feedback to project team leadership in a manner that assists with rapid identification and escalation of client, technical, scheduling, or operational challenges.
Operations
  • Be aware of and perform own tasks in a manner that supports the organization's vision and defined business objectives.
  • Conduct self and prioritize tasks to work toward achievement of defined profit objectives of assigned projects.
  • Cooperate in the construction of strong cross-functional teams to achieve success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents build stronger teams and results.
  • Complete daily tasks consistent with contract requirements and proactively alert assigned manager to any potential challenges, schedule risks, or project issues.
  • Ensure compliance of operations with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as compliance with company policy.
  • Ensure consistently high-quality deliverables for all individual work product.
  • Support business development and client relationship activities as requested.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree and 15 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 12 years of related experience, with 7+ years in a leadership role with significant impact.
  • Detailed understanding of CPM (Critical Path Method) concepts
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 required
  • Experience developing and maintaining schedules for high-rise, core & shell, mixed-use, commercial, healthcare, hospitality, or other large-scale vertical construction projects.
    • Experience supporting projects within the New York City metropolitan area strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, phasing, means and methods, and project controls principles.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Travel as required to fulfill position and project responsibilities.
  • Must be able to perform complex tasks, handle multiple priorities, and perform exceptionally under tight deadlines.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience in providing reliable work product review as assigned.
  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, supervisors, clients, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated self-awareness and flexibility in working with a variety of personalities and work styles, including clients, project teams, and leadership.
  • Experience evaluating schedule performance, critical path impacts, schedule changes, and delay-related issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and perform consistently and positively under high-pressure project environments.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages including Primavera P6, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and related project controls tools.
  • Ability to prepare schedule narratives, executive-level reporting, graphical schedule presentations, and technical project documentation.
  • Understanding of schedule delay analysis, forensic scheduling, construction claims, and dispute resolution concepts preferred.

$167,000 - $328,000 USD annually
