Job summary

ELEKS is seeking a Senior Scala Developer in Chicago, IL to design and build scalable backend services and distributed systems. You will work with Scala, Java 17, Akka, and AWS to deliver robust RESTful APIs and cloud-native solutions.

You will collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams, shaping architecture and driving quality through CI/CD pipelines. Ideal candidates have deep experience with Akka, data streaming, and enterprise-grade backend development, and are proficient in

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of commercial Scala development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java 17.
• Solid backend development experience.
• Hands-on Akka ecosystem experience (Streams, Typed Actors, Persistence, Akka).
• At least 2 years building data streaming with Akka.
• Experience developing RESTful web services.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (IAM, Kinesis, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, KMS).
• Experience with Slick and SQL query development.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps Pipelines).
• Experience delivering highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Understanding of software architecture and distributed design.
• Upper-Intermediate or higher level of English.
