Job summary

DNOW seeks a Senior SCADA Engineer to operate, support, and enhance an industrial SCADA platform for critical energy operations. You will work across data stacks, including PLC data, databases, and Ignition applications, ensuring reliability and continuous improvement.

You will troubleshoot complex issues, automate routines with Python and SQL, and collaborate with engineering to scale the platform as the business grows. Authorized to work in the United States is assumed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on SCADA integration, development, or support.
• Strong Ignition SCADA experience in production environments.
• Ability to obtain Ignition Gold Certification within 6 months.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Proficient in writing and troubleshooting SQL queries.
• Experience with Python or other modern languages.
• Knowledge of MQTT, Sparkplug B, OPC UA, Modbus, and industrial networking.
• Linux-based server environment familiarity.
• Clear documentation of processes and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and support health, reliability, and performance of the SCADA platform.
• Troubleshoot issues, performance bottlenecks, data integrity concerns, and incidents.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, logging, and incident response processes.
• Create and improve SOPs, documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
• Escalate as needed and provide customer-facing operational support.
• Collaborate with engineering to improve platform reliability and scalability.
• Develop scripts and tooling using Python and SQL.
• Support data pipelines, databases, and backend integrations.
• Design PLC-to-SCADA data structures, naming conventions, and templates.
• Assist integration and troubleshooting of PLCs, IIoT devices, MQTT, Sparkplug B, OPC UA, and Modbus.
• Contribute to operational standards and growth of SCADA operations.
