Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies is seeking a SATCOM Systems Engineer to lead development programs focused on RF and SATCOM integration. You will drive systems engineering artifacts and coordinate a cross-functional team across test, DSP, FPGA, and software groups.

The role requires DoD SATCOM experience, strong knowledge of MIL-STD 188-164B/165B, and hands-on modem platforms across multiple bands. Hybrid office/Lab work with occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Systems/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of DoD SATCOM experience in design, integration or systems engineering.
• Experience as technical or systems lead on multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proficiency with SATCOM terminals and modems MIL-STD guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional engineering team with daily task direction.
• Define WBS, schedule tasks, and allocate resources to milestones.
• Create and maintain system requirements, design docs, ICDs and RF cascades.
• Oversee integration of SATCOM terminals/modems and RF ground architectures.
• Support design, integration, and testing across C/X/K/K bands.
• Develop test plans and automation scripts in Python; assist DSP/FPGA work.
• Present results in reviews; coordinate with customers and Program Manager.
