Job summary

Addison Group in Santa Ana, CA, is seeking a Senior Tax Associate focusing on sales & use tax. This onsite role handles indirect tax compliance, reporting, and research across jurisdictions, with a high emphasis on accuracy and meeting deadlines.

The position offers a direct-hire arrangement, a schedule of M-F 8-5, and a compensation range of $43-$48 per hour plus a 10% target bonus. Knowledge of Avalara/AvaTax or Vertex is preferred, with strong Excel skills required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years indirect tax and accounting experience, multi-location/multi-state preferred.
• Strong knowledge of sales and use tax compliance and reporting.
• Experience with Avalara/AvaTax, Vertex, or similar software preferred.
• Experience with tax research resources such as CCH Tax Research preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review sales and use tax returns across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.
• Support indirect tax compliance and reporting activities across jurisdictions.
• Maintain resale and exemption certificates.
• Review exemption certificates for accuracy and compliance.
• Process tax adjustments for valid non-taxable transactions in ERP.
• Research state/local tax regulations and advise on product taxability and exemptions.
• Assist with audits and prepare supporting documents.
• Prepare and upload tax-related journal entries in ERP.
• Reconcile indirect tax GL accounts and investigate variances.
• Identify opportunities to improve tax processes.
