Job description

The Senior Sales Manager, USCA Industrial Coatings is a people leader who works under the direction of the Sales Director of the Industrial Coatings business to drive profitable sales growth in the USCA region. You will lead a team of direct reports to defend and increase share of wallet at existing accounts while prospecting and closing new business. You will manage business objectives for sales, profitability, expense control, and working capital. The Senior Sales Manager will collaborate closely with strategic account managers, other sales managers, technology centers, marketing, product management, customer service, technical service, and other PPG staff critical to the success of this position.

Due to the nature of this role, you may be remote anywhere within the continental US within a reasonable commute of an international airport.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive engagement, productivity, and efficiency among direct reports.
  • Achieve sales growth targets established by the SBU by managing the sales performance of team members, focusing on sales, profitability, and behavioral alignment with the PPG Way to Lead, as well as volume commitments.
  • Manage a portion of the sales staff to profitably grow the USCA Industrial Coatings business.
  • Develop and execute the business plan for the sales territory aligned with business objectives.
  • Utilize sales tools including value selling concepts.
  • Ensure effective management of accounts/territories of direct reports and coordinate activities with the Technical Service team.
  • Maintain timely and accurate communications regarding customer requirements, business opportunities, and issues.
  • Monitor and report on market and competitor intelligence.
  • Invest in developing a professional sales staff through coaching, mentoring, and joint account visits.
  • Support initiatives for complexity reduction and business transformation.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Business, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar; or equivalent experience, training, and industry knowledge.
  • 7+ years of experience in B2B sales related to industrial products, paints, coatings, or similar high-volume business sales.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a direct sales team.
  • Strong experience with organizational tools such as CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and proficiency in Excel for reporting.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% to meet with customers and regional sales reps.
