Job summary

BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc. seeks a Senior Sales Engineer to bridge design and sales, develop preliminary structural estimates for PT and turnkey projects, and coordinate with preconstruction and estimating staff.

You will work with suppliers and customers to craft cost-effective framing solutions while upholding safety standards. The role emphasizes strong sales acumen, presentation skills, and deep knowledge of steel building design, codes, and market pricing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering and P.E. license required.
• 10+ years in construction with 3+ years in steel building design and pricing.
• 3+ years in proposal, estimating or sales; strong understanding of the construction process.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings/specifications to define scope for proposals.
• Develop structural estimates for PEB, conventional and hybrid structures.
• Maintain pricing controls per BBNA guidelines and provide customer technical support.
• Determine framing solutions based on costs and schedule.
• Build relationships with material suppliers and fabricators; ensure erection safety.

This would include Government Services projects as well as program accounts. These estimates are to be created using in-house estimating software products and are to facilitate the transfer of project information for the execution of the project. This department also maintains a database of historical cost data and subcontractor information to facilitate conceptual estimating requirements.The Senior Sales Engineer provides the design and sales communication link between BSC and the client, the Preconstruction Manager and Estimating Staff, and involved consultants and subcontractors. This includes but is not limited to IBC, ASCE, AISC CFE2008, SJI, SDI, REP2014, NSR-10.10 years of combined experience in construction industry, including 3 years of structural design and pricing of steel buildings and 3 years of proposal, estimating, or sales experienceWorking knowledge of construction industryCompetent with structural design software (RISA, RAM, or STAAD)Experience in design of heavy industrial, large distribution, and hangar facilitiesStrong sales acumen and presentation skillsDemonstrated business acumen-Preferred:Experience with metal building designNotice to External Search Firms: BlueScope Buildings does not accept unsolicited resumes and will not be obligated to pay a placement fee for unsolicited resumes.
