The Opportunity

The Senior Sales Engineer collaborates with the sales team to drive deal closure and future growth in North America. The ideal candidate will present the MariaDB portfolio, design and drive solutions to address data- and database-centric business challenges, and contribute across multiple sales cycles. The candidate will be involved in creating SOWs with the technical team, developing and leading presentations, web conferences, white papers, workflows, and RFPs/RFIs. Responsibilities
  • Work directly with customers, partners and sales leadership to bring deals to fruition. (Bias for action; ready to roll up your sleeves)
  • Follow sales engineering best practices.
  • Leverage high-level sales acumen and enterprise technology expertise daily.
  • Collaborate with the global sales organization to prioritize resources for targets.
  • GTM: assess client pain-points and needs, and follow through with optimal solutions.
  • Manage stakeholders at all levels (CIOs/CTOs/CXOs, DBAs, developers).
  • Experience across channel sales from ISVs to vendors and consultancies.
  • Travel as needed to support sales efforts, engineer solutions, and help close deals; present or staff booths at conferences when required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on, senior sales engineer experience.
  • Strong database or database architecture skills (MariaDB or MySQL strongly preferred).
  • Working understanding of other database and open source technologies.
  • Experience leading complex customer POC engagements.
  • Experience collaborating with customer success and field teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and high level of organization.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fundamental knowledge of programming, web stack technologies, Linux, etc.
  • Experience working 100% remotely with regional travel as required.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
Bonus Experience and Skills
  • Experience with pre-sales in open-source software environments
  • Experience with pre-sales in SaaS or managed services environments
  • Cloud engineering / public cloud experience
  • Public speaking and writing history (blogs and articles)

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this full-time role is USD 140,000–175,000. Actual salaries vary based on qualifications, location, skills, experience, and competencies.
