Job Description

Job Summary
Under limited supervision uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through experience and/or training to provide advanced support to assigned Institutional Equity Sales professionals and/or teams. Maintains direct contact with Institutional Investors (clients) to, among other responsibilities, facilitate meetings, conference calls, deliver written research, and develop business relationships with assigned institutional accounts. Acts as liaison between various inter-departmental administrators. Maintains high level of organization in a fast-paced environment to coordinate sales schedules/travel, marketing trips, client meetings and general office management. Regular contact with internal and external customers is expected to obtain, clarify, or provide facts and information. May lead the work of others and provides training, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced associates. May perform various sales related duties as directed with some supervision. May have administrator responsibility to manage operation of regional offices. Works on complex assignments that are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity with team. Assists in the development of corporate financial projections and equity valuation metrics by utilizing adequate quantitative and analytical skills. The Senior Sales Associate role encompasses enhanced client-facing activities as well as discretion in working with reduced oversight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides advanced support to assigned Institutional Equity Sales professionals and/or teams.
  • Oversees the creation, verification and uploading of client interaction data to 3rd party aggregators for purposes of reflecting revenue producing services back to our clients for payment.
  • Coordinates and facilitates conference calls between clients and analysts.
  • Liaises with clients and sales professionals to facilitate corporate access and analyst meetings with limited oversight.
  • Communicates with analysts and/or research assistants.
  • Updates and monitors client research report subscriptions.
  • Maintains detailed working spreadsheets of upcoming events relevant to assigned professionals.
  • Performs other duties, strategic projects and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
  • Administrator responsibility to manage operations of regional offices.
  • May lead the work of others and provides training, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced associates.
  • Performs various sales-related duties as directed with supervision, such as:
    • Independent idea generation suitable for client strategy.
    • Providing market and stock commentary and investor sentiment, color, and positioning.
    • Independent prospecting of new accounts.
    • Conducting strategic conversations to monetize relationships.
    • Targeting relevant clients for Capital Markets opportunities.
  • Disseminates timely marketing materials for equity products and services targeted at institutional investors.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of relationships with institutional clients by way of:
    • Entertainment of clients independent of senior Sales Partner.
    • Introducing Raymond James to new client relationships with goal of initiating and growing partnership.
    • Fostering networking opportunities for client base.
    • Developing ability to host corporate and analyst access meetings on behalf of Raymond James.
  • Responds to inquiries from institutional investors about the department's investment philosophies, products and services.
  • Collaborates in the generation of new sales ideas and promotion of new products through written sales memos, proactive phone networking and office visits.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of
• Working knowledge of financial services, research analysis and Equity Capital Markets.
• Working knowledge of investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.
• Working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of institutional equity sales & sales trading.
• Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.

• ECM travel policies and expense regulations.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

Education/Previous Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree Required. Majors in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields preferred.
• Minimum (1) One to 3 (three) years’ experience in a sales and marketing environment or financial services industry.
• OR Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications
• Ability to complete all registration requirements necessary for the job within 5 months of start date. SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied. Series 7, Series 63 Required.
