Job summary

Gotham Technology Group is seeking a Senior SailPoint IIQ Engineer / Technical Lead for a hands‑on, on‑prem SailPoint IIQ role within a large IAM transformation program. The candidate will stabilize, support, and expand the existing IIQ environment, with cloud migrations not currently in scope.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot provisioning, aggregation, connector, workflow, and identity data issues.
• Develop SailPoint customizations using Java, BeanShell, APIs, and workflows.
• Collaborate with owners, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IAM stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Support automation of IAM processes and participate in design discussions.

Senior SailPoint IIQ Engineer / Technical Lead

Location: Newark, NJ

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – approximately 3 days onsite per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior SailPoint IIQ Engineer / Technical Lead to join a large enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) transformation program. This is a hands‑on engineering role focused primarily on an existing on‑premises SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong, practical experience engineering and supporting SailPoint IIQ, including application onboarding, integrations, connectors, provisioning, workflows, lifecycle events, certifications, troubleshooting, and identity governance processes.

The immediate focus is on stabilizing, supporting, enhancing, and expanding the existing IIQ platform. While the organization may evaluate cloud‑based identity governance as part of its longer‑term IAM strategy, this is not currently a cloud migration role. Experience with SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC) / IdentityNow is a plus, but deep, hands‑on SailPoint IIQ experience is the primary requirement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on engineering, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting for the enterprise SailPoint IdentityIQ environment.
• Configure, enhance, and maintain IIQ workflows, lifecycle events, policies, certifications, roles, access requests, and provisioning processes.
• Design, configure, and maintain application integrations and SailPoint connectors.
• Lead the onboarding of enterprise applications and systems into the identity governance environment.
• Troubleshoot complex provisioning, aggregation, connector, workflow, and identity‑data issues.
• Develop and maintain SailPoint customizations using Java, BeanShell, APIs, rules, workflows, and other IIQ technologies.
• Analyze and improve existing IIQ configurations, integrations, and processes to enhance scalability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
• Work closely with application owners, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity teams, and IAM stakeholders to resolve identity and access issues.
• Support automation of repetitive IAM and identity governance processes.
• Participate in technical design and architecture discussions related to the continued evolution of the IAM environment.
• Identify technical debt and recommend opportunities to modernize and improve the existing IIQ implementation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation covering configurations, integrations, workflows, procedures, and operational processes.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for complex SailPoint issues and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
• Support the organization’s longer‑term evaluation of cloud‑based identity governance capabilities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on SailPoint IdentityIQ experience.
• Strong experience engineering and supporting on‑premises SailPoint IIQ environments.
• Demonstrated experience with application onboarding, connector configuration/development, aggregation, provisioning, and integrations.
• Strong understanding of Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) principles and processes.
• Hands‑on experience with identity lifecycle management, access requests, certifications, roles, policies, workflows, and provisioning.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across SailPoint workflows, connectors, provisioning, aggregation, and identity data.
• Experience integrating SailPoint with enterprise applications and infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of Java and BeanShell within SailPoint IIQ.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, LDAP, databases, and enterprise identity environments.
• Understanding of IAM fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, access control, and identity lifecycle management.
• Experience working within large, complex enterprise technology environments.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with IAM, cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and other technology teams.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• SailPoint certifications.
• Experience with SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC) / IdentityNow.
• Experience evaluating or planning an IIQ-to-cloud identity governance migration.
• Experience modernizing legacy SailPoint IIQ implementations and reducing technical debt.
• Experience with cloud IAM or identity security platforms.
• Experience integrating SailPoint with CyberArk, SSO, MFA, Active Directory, or other enterprise security technologies.
• Experience in financial services, utilities, critical infrastructure, or other highly regulated environments.
• Previous experience serving as a technical lead, lead engineer, or senior SailPoint engineer.
• Experience mentoring or providing technical direction to other IAM engineers.
