Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) in Carson City, NV seeks a Senior Safety Specialist, Consultation to design, develop, and deliver a broad range of safety and health training for NDOT staff, with statewide travel to training sites.

You will maintain curriculum and records, coordinate with the NDOT Training Section, and lead on-site instruction, safety assessments, and reporting using SharePoint and the LMS, while coordinating with project teams and external entities.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of applicable experience as described in the job duties.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent education.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys of employer sites and pre-inspection reviews.
• Identify potential hazards and abatement procedures.
• Meet with employers to discuss visit purpose, rights and responsibilities.
• Review workplace safety programs for compliance and effectiveness.
• Evaluate working conditions for compliance.
• Provide informal on-site instruction on a variety of topics.
• Document findings and recommendations in comprehensive reports.
• Act as a team leader by assigning and reviewing work.
