Role Summary

This role is permanently based in Minneapolis, MN. You'll be immersed in our on-site project environment, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate to join us on-site at Minneapolis jobsites.

The Senior Safety Specialist will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects. Responsibilities include safety inspections, hazard documentation, report writing, and trend analysis, all in alignment with JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

• Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Perform safety audits, identify hazards, document findings, and recommend abatement measures using safety management systems.
• Lead project-specific new hire orientations and oversee drug and alcohol policy adherence.
• Monitor and support prime contractor and subcontractor safety programs.
• Participate in project meetings to address safety issues.
• Assist in accident investigations, determine root causes, and recommend process improvements.
• Coordinate with injured employees and clinics to ensure timely treatment and return to work.
• Oversee safety incentive programs.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

In addition, the Senior Safety Specialist will:

• Identify complex safety hazards related to safety, health, and hazardous materials, providing advanced solutions.
• Utilize extensive safety knowledge to make project-specific recommendations.
• Engage actively in meetings, providing guidance and training on safety topics.
• Use safety management tools for trend analysis and mitigation strategies.
• Support safety leadership during insurance audits.
• Manage complex projects, including large or multiple projects.
• Develop and implement training strategies, including digital and on-the-job methods.
• Analyze training needs and develop or improve programs accordingly.
• Monitor safety metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Deliver in-person and virtual training sessions, maintaining records.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate).
• Knowledge of safety regulations and enforcement.
• Proficiency in safety software and tools (Advanced).
• Recognize hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Build relationships across teams and projects.
• Knowledge of environmental hazard testing protocols.
• Proficiency in construction technology (Intermediate).

Education

• Bachelor's degree in safety and health-related field preferred.
• Equivalent relevant experience considered.

Experience

• Minimum 5+ years construction safety experience required.

Working Environment

• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.

Base salary in Minneapolis ranges from $98,000 to $123,000, depending on experience, with potential for higher compensation for exceptional candidates. Role also includes a target bonus based on performance.
