Job summary

Specialty Granules LLC (SGI) seeks a Safety Manager to assure regulatory compliance and lead safety initiatives at the Blue Ridge Summit plant. You will train and audit, champion BBS, and coordinate with inspectors to minimize incidents.

Requirements include a BS in Safety Management and 5+ years in mining safety, with strong MSHA/NIOSH knowledge and hands-on leadership to drive a world-class safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or related field.
  • 5+ years safety management in a mining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MSHA Part 46, 56, and 50 / NIOSH requirements.
  • Strategic and systematic in approach; hands-on safety leadership.
  • Experience with BBS programs and hazard recognition; incident investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a culture of Safety First and drive safety improvements.
  • Champion, drive, and lead safety initiatives within the SGI plant.
  • Participate in the Safety Steering Committee and MSHA audits.
  • Maintain records, audit safety programs, and develop corrective actions.
  • Manage MSHA training/documentation and industrial hygiene tasks.
  • Conduct respirator fit tests and plant safety visits for regulatory compliance.
  • Investigate accidents and respond to MSHA citations when needed.
  • Budget and control safety department spending; audit major projects and contractors.
  • Collaborate with site personnel to meet safety goals and action plans.

Develop and implement SGI safety policies and required training.Acts as a champion for safety.Accompanies Regulatory inspectors while on-site.Back-up the Environmental Coordinator as needed.Qualifications RequiredBachelor’s Degree B.S.
