Job summary

Reports To: Vice President, Advanced Technology

Position Summary

The GOR Group is seeking a Senior Safety Manager, Advanced Technology, on behalf of our client to build a comprehensive safety program and lead safety across complex, fast-paced data center and advanced technology construction projects.

Based in Dallas, TX, this leader will support our client's Advanced Technology business unit, establishing safety practices that protect employees, trade partners, and visitors while supporting the delivery of mission-critical facilities.

The Senior Safety Manager will oversee project safety strategy, mentor field safety professionals, drive regulatory compliance, and partner with operations to proactively identify and mitigate hazards. This role offers the opportunity to shape a growing safety program, develop teams, and establish a culture where safety is a shared responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Development & Leadership
  • Build and implement a comprehensive safety program aligned with our client's operational standards, project requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Partner with project teams and field leadership to provide guidance on safety, environmental health, and risk management.
  • Develop and review site-specific safety plans and ensure crisis management plans are implemented.
  • Anticipate and adapt safety program requirements to meet client expectations and applicable regulations.
  • Mentor field safety professionals and promote accountability across project teams and trade partners.
Field Safety & Risk Management
  • Conduct jobsite inspections to assess compliance with company environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) programs and applicable OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Lead pre-job safety planning to identify hazards and establish controls before work begins.
  • Respond to identified deficiencies, safety concerns, and requests for technical assistance.
  • Resolve site safety issues involving subcontractors, clients, employees, and company leadership.
  • Support emergency response activities as needed.
  • Ensure lockout/tagout (LOTO) and first-time energization procedures are followed at project sites.
Incident Investigation & Injury Management
  • Lead comprehensive investigations of injuries and loss incidents, identifying root causes and contributing factors.
  • Develop corrective measures and verify their implementation to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and communicate lessons learned across project teams.
  • Assist with injury case management and coordinate with insurance representatives and vendors as directed by senior safety leadership.
Training & Workforce Development
  • Identify training needs and develop EH&S training materials and educational programs.
  • Lead safety training, testing, and recordkeeping for employees on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate training on new hire orientation, equipment safety, hazard communication, fall protection, excavation, confined spaces, LOTO, and crane and rigging safety.
  • Develop and maintain pre-task planning documents, permits, training certifications, attendance records, and toolbox talk materials.
  • Coordinate project EH&S programs and training activities with subcontractors.
  • Arrange basic first aid training for jobsite personnel.
Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Health
  • Support compliance with applicable OSHA construction standards, state regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Assist with environmental and OSHA-related project permits.
  • Support the development of environmental and industrial hygiene training programs.
  • Coordinate or perform environmental and occupational health testing and sampling, as needed and appropriate to qualifications.
Safety Resources, Reporting & Communication
  • Manage assigned project safety budgets, including the planning, purchasing, inventory, and distribution of safety equipment, supplies, and training materials.
  • Prepare professional safety reports and deliver briefings to project teams and leadership.
  • Serve as a company representative for site safety matters.
  • Research and respond to safety questions and communicate requirements clearly to employees, trade partners, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of construction experience addressing safety, environmental, and occupational health issues.
  • Relevant professional safety certification, such as Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA construction standards and applicable state and environmental regulations.

  • Ability to recognize EH&S training needs and develop effective training programs.
  • Strong hazard recognition, risk assessment, and incident investigation skills.
  • Ability to translate safety requirements into practical field procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and training delivery capabilities.
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to coach field teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with project leadership, employees, subcontractors, and clients.
