Job summary

Verse seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and test fleet telemetry and control software in Rust, targeting on‑prem hardware and edge devices worldwide. You will collaborate with partners, craft robust distributed energy resource control, and contribute to high‑performance, secure software in constrained environments.

You will mentor engineers, work with diverse hardware stacks, and help advance surface integrations while maintaining strong engineering discipline and security practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years directly on bare-metal applications.
• Technical leadership and reliable on-time delivery with strong software practices.
• Proficient in systems languages such as C/C++, Rust, or Go.
• Comfort with scripting languages like Shell or Python; Rust bindings a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of OSI layers (L1–L7) networking.
• Hands-on exposure to lightweight databases such as SQLite/LevelDB.
• Familiarity with SCADA, industrial automation, PLCs, microcontrollers, and FSMs.
• Security mindset with PKI, encryption, and data privacy.

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture of well‑designed systems, test‑driven software, and respectful collaboration.
• Mentor and support career development for fleet telemetry engineers.
• Collaborate with energy solutions providers on hardware and on‑prem software stacks.
• Design, implement, and test telemetry/control software for distributed energy resources across heterogeneous hardware.
• Develop high‑performance applications optimized for constrained environments.
• Specify OTA updates for on‑prem software and remote access solutions.
• Implement and enforce best security practices for critical infrastructure.
