Job summary

The DGS Office of External Affairs in Smyrna, Delaware seeks an Epidemiologist III to lead surveillance, response, reporting, and analysis of health issues in rural populations, and to develop targeted interventions to improve well-being for rural communities.

The role collaborates with staff across multiple epidemiology offices, participates in on-call rotation, and supports State Health Operations Center responses to public health challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Life, Physical, Health Science, or related field.
• Three years experience using epidemiological methods to identify, study, and control communicable, chronic, or environmental diseases
• Three years experience designing, conducting, and analyzing epidemiologic studies
• Three years experience designing and using surveillance systems to monitor public health problems
• Six months experience in inferential statistics and preparing statistical summaries
• Knowledge of staff supervision or direct supervisory experience
