Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices is seeking an RTL Design Engineer to join the Memory Controller Design team in Austin, TX. You will contribute to creating high‑quality IP features and RTL implementations for next‑gen memory controllers, working with architects and verification engineers across global teams.

You will analyze designs for power, performance, and area, perform lint and timing analyses, and participate in reviews.

Qualifications

  • Experience with digital logic design and RTL development.
  • Proficiency with Verilog or SystemVerilog.
  • Scripting in Python/Perl/Tcl.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and memory systems.
  • Experience with DDR/LPDDR memory is a plus.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools, lint, and synthesis workflows.
  • Background in digital logic verification is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement IP microarchitecture features with architects.
  • Develop RTL designs for IP features.
  • Analyze and optimize designs for power, performance and area.
  • Perform lint, CDC, and timing analysis and participate in design and code reviews.
  • Collaborate with verification engineers to validate IP throughout the project lifecycle.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an RTL Design Engineer to join our growing Memory Controller Design team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of advanced technologies and help deliver high-quality products to market. THE PERSON

You have experience or interest in processor architecture, digital design, and verification. You collaborate effectively with engineers across global teams and communicate technical concepts clearly. You enjoy analyzing technical challenges, developing solutions, and continuously expanding your skills in a dynamic engineering environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with architects to define and implement IP microarchitecture features
  • Develop RTL designs for IP features
  • Analyze and optimize designs for power, performance, and area
  • Participate in design specification reviews and code reviewsPerform lint, CDC, and timing analysis to support high-quality design implementation
  • Collaborate with verification engineers to validate and debug IP throughout the project lifecycle
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with digital logic design
  • Experience with Verilog and/or SystemVerilog
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl
  • Understanding of computer architecture
  • Experience with DDR or LPDDR memory systems is preferred
  • Experience with EDA tools and design flows, including simulation, lint, and synthesis, is preferred
  • Experience with digital logic verification is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver technical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and develop effective solutions
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
