Job summary

AdventHealth Wesley Chapel is seeking a seasoned Respiratory Therapist to deliver high-quality cardiopulmonary care in an acute hospital setting. You will assess patients, manage ventilators, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize treatment plans.

Requires an Associate degree in Respiratory Care, active RRT credentials, and 3+ years' hospital experience; ACLS/BLS/PALS are required. PRN schedule, day shifts, with a competitive pay range and benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of respiratory therapy or equivalent training
• 3+ years of hospital experience as RRT
• Experience in acute care with blood gas management
• Able to assess respiratory status and re-evaluate therapy as needed
• Educates staff, patients, and families; maintains documentation quality
• Strong communication and customer service oriented

Responsibilities

• Recommends changes in respiratory care plans based on medical necessity and protocols
• Instructs and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment to manage side effects
• Adjusts therapies per protocol using data like pulse oximetry and labs
• Supervises student preceptorship programs
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation and re-evaluates ventilator settings
• Draws and analyzes arterial blood gases and adjusts care
• Responds to emergencies with airway management and CPR
• Supports cardiopulmonary diagnostics and related testing
• Assists with services such as sedation and advanced bronchoscopy per needs
• Maintains a supportive, growth-oriented department environment
• Monitors patient progress and reassesses therapy
• Performs other duties as assigned
