Job summary

CFD Research Corporation in Huntsville, AL, is seeking a senior rotordynamics FEA engineer to advance analysis of rotating machinery such as compressors and turbines. You will work with Abaqus/ANSYS/NASTRAN and interfacing with fluid and thermal teams.

This role requires 6+ years of turbomachinery experience, strong modeling skills, and the ability to document results for design reviews.

Occasional travel to Hollywood, AL for meetings and collaboration will be expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on turbomachinery experience incl. turbines, gearboxes, compressors.
• Proficient with Abaqus and SolidWorks; Campbell diagram and critical speed analysis.
• Experience with remote HPC clusters and Bash scripting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate linear dynamic FEA models to generate Campbell diagrams.
• Identify critical speeds, rotational clearances, and assess high cycle fatigue.
• Produce engineering reports and present results to stakeholders.
