Job summary

PEMEX Deer Park is seeking a Senior Rotating Equipment Specialist to provide sitewide technical support for approximately 60 critical machinery assets. You will own technical assurance for critical machines, support outages and turnarounds, and manage critical spare parts.

You will build relationships with production, central engineering, maintenance, and project teams to improve reliability and safety across the facility in Deer Park, Texas.

Qualifications

Job Summary

At PEMEX Deer Park, the role of the Senior Rotating Equipment Specialist is to provide technical support to Production and Maintenance sitewide for ~60 Critical Machinery Assets. The role will provide technical and field support for planned and unplanned machinery outages, support turnarounds, and manage critical spare parts. To accomplish this, the role is empowered to be the owner of Technical Assurance for all Critical machines and the supporting auxiliary equipment.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Technical Competence: Key areas for operational equipment competency include:

• Rotating Equipment: General Purpose Pumps, Electric Motors, General Purpose Turbines, Shaft Sealing Systems, Lubrication Systems, Fin Fans, and Blowers.
• Special Purpose Rotating Equipment: Operation and Repair of Centrifugal Compressors, Multi-Stage Steam Turbines, Turbo Generators, Gearboxes, Reciprocating Compressors, Dry Gas Seals and Oil Seals, High Energy Pumps, Skill level knowledge of API 686 and API 687.

Delivery: Build strong working relationships with and leverage support from a broad range of stakeholders and peers, including:

• Production Teams – Asset Managers (PUMs), Productions Specialists, Operators, Maintenance Supervisor, Inspectors, Process Engineers, and Safety Representative
• Central Engineering – Rotating and Static Equipment subject matter experts, other engineering counterparts in Electrical, Civil, Control Systems and Environmental Engineering.
• Maintenance and Turnarounds – Planners, Execution Team Leads, Field Coordinators, and Cost Controllers
• Project Engineering
• Support Functions – Contracts & Procurement, Warehouse, SAP and IMS Superusers, Emergency Response
• Third Parties – Vendors, Fabrication/Repair Shops, and Engineering Contractors

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Rotating Equipment is the first point of contact for anything related to the operation and maintenance of Critical Machinery.

Operations Support

• Work with Operations and Maintenance counterparts to solve day-to-day problems, ensuring safe and reliable unit operation.
• Participate in quarterly production team meetings to maintain awareness of key activities and unit operating status.
• Conduct routine field walkthroughs with operations, maintenance, and inspection to proactively evaluate concerns with equipment and provide recommendations.
• Support as a key contributor during stabilization and recovery from operational upsets.
• Escalate troubleshooting to the Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer when necessary.

Technical Assurance

• Develop Quality Plans for execution of maintenance on Critical Rotating Equipment.
• Support work scope development and field execution for Critical Rotating Equipment
• Coordinate mechanical equipment surveillance during routine and non-routine operation.
• Participate in production unit pre-startup safety reviews and commissioning activities for MOC or after Turnaround.
• Support Overhaul activities in outside shops.
• Review teardown reports and provide recommendations for critical equipment repair.
• Review equipment BOM and ensure its accuracy prior to maintenance events.
• Primary owner for critical spare parts including condition, storage, and preservation.
• Perform annual audits on critical spares to ensure compliance.
• Contribute to MEDR and maintain Equipment Condition History reports in IMS
• Support RCM work Process for Critical Machinery.

Critical Work Processes

• Manage Threats and Opportunities (MTO): Identify and prioritize threats and opportunities related to mechanical equipment, utilize problem solving skills to frame potential solutions, and take action to drive resolution.
• Management of Change (MOC): Develop technical design bases, provide and facilitate technical assurance and hazard screening of design, assist with maintenance planning and execution activities, lead pre-startup safety reviews, and verify change close-out activities.
• Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM): Manage and continuously improve asset care strategies for both fixed and rotating equipment using consistent methodologies and a standardized approach.
• Maintenance Execution (ME): Drive compliance for critical planned maintenance, review deferral justifications, and seek optimization opportunities.
• Process Safety Compliance: Manage and timely implement Process Safety recommendations for the assigned production areas.
• Causal Learning: Participate in and occasionally lead Causal Learning investigations to support continuous improvement.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
• Minimum five (10) years of experience in a related manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience with maintenance and reliability concepts, including a sound understanding of engineering and maintenance processes. Knowledge of the concepts of risk management, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Management of Change, and structured problem solving.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with personnel from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization. Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Demonstrated skill in working with teams to achieve a common goal.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience in support of special purpose rotating equipment.
• Prior experience with concepts related to maintenance and reliability, risk assessment, Management of Change, and structured problem solving.
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards, and their application within the refining and petrochemical industries.
• Prior experience with BOM and spare parts management including repair, inspection, and preservation.

Education, Experience and Skills

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Prior direct full-time work experience in a refining or petrochemical manufacturing complex. Minimum of 10 years.
