Job summary

Welo Global is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the systems powering a large-scale data collection operation, including the collection platform, operator tooling, data pipeline, and fleet infrastructure. This is an engineering role where you direct an operator team and own what comes out of it.

Basing in Santa Clara, this 12-month onsite contract pays $105/hour with standard hours. You will design, build, deploy across the fleet, ensure data health, and drive throughput improvements.

Qualifications

• MS or BS in CS/Robotics/EE/ME or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3+ years building software for real robot systems; not simulation only.
• A system you designed and shipped that others depend on daily.
• Strong Python and Linux; Docker, Git, CI, and SSH-based fleet administration.
• Robot middleware and real-time multi-sensor recording - ROS 2 or equivalent vendor SDKs.
• Experience supporting a data collection or teleoperation operation; built tools for operators.
• Comfortable around robot hardware and calibration; able to lead operators with clear SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the software behind data collection stations.
• Deploy and upgrade that stack across the fleet without stopping collection.
• Own the data pipeline end to end: validation, format conversion, upload, metadata, and versioning.
• Build QA tooling to catch dropped frames, desync, calibration issues, and mislabeled episodes.
• Direct a team of teleoperators; define SOPs, onboard them on tasks, review quality, and unblock daily.
• Own fleet reliability: calibration and firmware pipelines, sensor integration, root-cause analysis, vendor escalation.
• Bring up new stations and embodiments; report throughput and data health to the research team.
