Amazon is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to develop tactile- and force-driven manipulation policies for dexterous, multi-fingered robotic hands, and to research policy learning algorithms enabling grasping in unstructured real-world environments.

You will work across tactile sensing, sim-to-real transfer, and multi-modal sensing, collaborating with hardware and controls teams to deploy robust robotic capabilities. This role blends research excellence with practical engineering and mentoring.

Qualifications

• PhD or master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python.
• Experience deploying learned policies on physical robotic hardware.
• Experience in tactile sensing, manipulation policy learning, or multi-modal perception for robotics.

Responsabilités

• Design and train manipulation policies using tactile and force feedback.
• Drive sim-to-real transfer for real hardware.
• Collaborate with hardware and controls teams to deploy policies.
• Publish at top venues and mentor engineers.
• Own projects within tactile sensing and manipulation workstreams.
• Build evaluation frameworks with benchmarks and metrics.
