Agility Robotics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer focused on Navigation to advance real-time motion planning for humanoid robots in logistics and manufacturing. You will own core navigation components and collaborate across AI and Controls teams, aligning with our hybrid work model across Salem, Pittsburgh, or Fremont offices.

The role emphasizes deploying robust navigation, testing on physical robots, and bridging simulation-to-robot deployment with Gazebo, MuJoCo, and Isaac Sim.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional robotics experience focused on real-time navigation and motion planning for autonomous mobile platforms.
• Expertise in 3D/volumetric maps (octomaps, voxel grids) for local planning and collision avoidance.
• Strong knowledge of sampling-based planners (RRT/PRM), MPC/LQR, and Hybrid A*.
• Proficient in modern C++ (C++17/20) with high-performance, multi-threaded robotics code.
• Experience with ROS/ROS2, DDS and optimization libraries like Ceres, IPOPT, OSQP.
• Proven ability to test and debug on physical robots and fuse LiDAR/camera/depth data into planners.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy 3D motion planning algorithms for real-time locomotion.
• Own navigation stack components: local maps, terrain models, and grid representations.
• Develop 3D footstep path planner to reduce navigation cycle times.
• Define navigation features and route planning for multi-agent fleets.
• Develop regression testing pipelines for motion planning and navigation.
• Collaborate with AI and Controls to integrate RL policies and whole-body control.
• Integrate planning algorithms on real hardware from simulation to robots.
