Job summary

PDS Inc. is seeking a hands-on test engineer to evaluate actuators, robotic manipulators, and multi-axis motion systems. You will plan and execute motion performance tests across several control modes, and document results in clear reports.

Responsibilities include configuring test rigs, collecting data with encoders and force/torque sensors, and collaborating with controls, mechanical, and firmware teams to root-cause issues and improve test procedures.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
• 5+ years of robotics testing or electromechanical validation.
• Experience testing robotic systems and actuators with closed-loop motion control.
• Hands-on with encoders, force/torque sensors, accelerometers, and DAQ.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB or similar for test automation and post-processing.
• Familiarity with Linux/UNIX at user level.

Responsibilities

• Plan, configure, and execute motion performance tests on actuators, robotic arms, and multi-DOF systems.
• Operate robots and test rigs in position, velocity, torque, and impedance control modes.
• Instrument test setups and validate sensor data quality.
• Collect, analyze test data and generate reports and visualizations.
• Identify anomalies and work with controls/firmware engineers to root-cause issues.
• Maintain and troubleshoot test fixtures and lab equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and document repeatable test procedures and automation scripts.
