Job summary

Senra Systems is building a new model for complex manufacturing, starting with electrical wire harnesses. We operate real production lines for major aerospace and defense clients and are expanding our automation program.

The Senior Robotics Engineer will own robot learning, perception, and manipulation on the factory floor, using real production data to improve reliability and address failure modes. This hands-on role ships capabilities to the line quickly.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience training and deploying learning-based manipulation on real robots (imitation learning, diffusion or transformer policies, reinforcement learning, robot foundation models)
• Experience building the data side: teleoperation or demonstration collection, data pipelines, and evaluation on hardware
• Track record at a robotics research lab, frontier robotics company, or a team shipping learned robotic systems, including work you led
• Experience with contact-rich or deformable-object manipulation (e.g., cables, insertion, cloth)
• Track record moving quickly on real hardware: experiments that answer a question in days, not months
• Strong Python and a deep learning framework such as PyTorch or JAX; comfortable in C++ and with ROS 2 or similar on real robots
• Self-starter who takes ownership of a technical area end to end, partners well with other senior engineers, and communicates clearly with technicians, engineers, and leadership
• Must have Master's or PhD in robotics, computer science, or mechanical/electrical/computer engineering, or equivalent experience
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR

Responsibilities

• Learned manipulation on production line, from research to a skill running on real work, starting with machine tending
• Feeding learned skills back to production: perception and grasping models and failure analysis
• Data pipeline for learned skills: demonstrations from teleoperation and cameras, labeling, and training/evaluation pipelines
• Dexterous and wire-manipulation research on tasks resisting automation
• Model strategy: evaluating and selecting open-weight and partner robot foundation models
• Partner pilots on robotic hands and models, with data/results staying at Senra
• Quarterly research plan with clear deliverables and go/no-go criteria
• Help hire and mentor engineers as the team grows
