Job summary

RoboForce in Milpitas, CA is seeking a Senior/Staff Robotics Engineer specializing in motion planning to own the local mobility and safety stack for our humanoid platform. You will translate AI-driven costmaps into safe, dynamically feasible trajectories and bridge perception with physical execution on uneven terrain.

You will build high-performance C++ pipelines for real-time planning, ensure CoM-aware navigation, and develop deterministic safety layers that override AI when constraints are

Qualifications

• PhD in Robotics or related field, or MS with 4+ years experience.
• Expert in local planners and trajectory optimization for mobile robots.
• Strong understanding of dynamics and center-of-mass constraints.
• Proficient in modern C++ for real-time control.
• Experience deploying autonomous navigation stacks on real robots.

Responsibilities

• Dynamic Motion Planning: design and implement local planners for heavy, non-holonomic bases on uneven terrain.
• AI Integration & Costmap Consumption: build C++ pipelines from neural-network outputs to planner constraints.
• CoM Aware Navigation: adapt plans to changing CoM from payloads for stability on slopes.
• Deterministic Safety Architectures: create safety layer that overrides AI when needed.
• WBC Integration: connect planning with future Whole-Body Control architectures.
