TAR is building the world’s first off-grid power plant for data centers, led from a San Francisco robotics facility with regular travel to a West Texas site. The Lead Robotics Engineer will own the end-to-end architecture of TAR's robotic systems across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software, and stay hands-on with hardware and software.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in robotics engineering spanning mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines.
• Experience building or leading a robotics function from an early stage.
• Hands-on technical expertise across the robotics stack to defend architecture decisions.
• Experience mentoring engineers, even without formal management titles.
• Comfortable with ownership and ambiguity, building playbooks as you go.
• Strong communication skills to represent decisions to leadership and partners.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture of TAR's robotic systems across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software integration.
• Design, build, and iterate robotics hardware and software directly, while guiding the team's direction.
• Establish engineering practices including design reviews, testing, and documentation standards.
• Identify and close gaps in robotics capability across skill, tooling, and process.
• Mentor and grow the robotics engineering team as it is built out.
• Partner with hardware, software, and manufacturing leadership to align with product roadmaps.
• Represent robotics in cross-functional planning and translate trade-offs for the organization.
